Fast & Furious Gets Four TV Shows
While we wait for the eleventh installment of the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise, news that Dominic Toretto and his "Familia" will be hitting our screens sometime in the future was shared by the star of the franchise, Vin Diesel. According to Diesel, Fast & Furious will have four separate TV Shows. He also revealed that one of the TV Shows is already under development at Peacock, and if you ask me, it's about time the franchise expands.
The Bloodshot actor made the announcement on Monday morning at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation. He said, "Peacock is launching four shows in the Fast and the Furious universe." He also shared that while one of the four shows is scheduled to premiere on Peacock, the other three are undergoing development at Universal Television.
Fast & Furious — All About The Upcoming TV Series
It's not yet known whether Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in the TV shows but it's been confirmed that he will be glued to the shows as its executive producer. Working alongside Diesel for the shows will be, Sam Vincent, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum. Mike Daniels who is currently working on another NBC title The Rockford Files, will write the pilot of the series.
The 58-year-old actor didn't share further details about the upcoming TV Shows, –details like the release dates, returning casts, etc. but, he told the audience at the presentation, “As you all know, we are very precious about these movies but over the last decade, we’ve realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.“
The time finally came for Diesel to get a greenlight on the idea of live-action TV shows when Universal Studios' chief, Donna Langley, took oversight of NBCUniversal’s TV operation last year. According to Diesel, “That’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space.”

In 2009, the original cast (Diesel, Walker, Rodriguez, Brewster) reunited for the fourth installment, Fast & Furious. The fifth installment in 2011 titled Fast Five saw the introduction of Dwayne Johnson, and in 2013, Fast and Furious 6 welcomed Johnson as part of the Toretto family. Furious 7 (2015) was a tribute to Paul Walker, with the plot centered on revenge.
The Fate of the Furious (2017) featured Charlize Theron as a villain, while F9: The Fast Saga (2021) featured former WWE wrestler, John Cena, as Dominic Toretto's younger brother, Jacob. The tenth installment titled Fast X (2023) which is the first part of the final chapter, featured Jason Momoa. The last chapter of the franchise, titled Fast & Furious 11 is scheduled to premiere in 2028.
